Many people in New Plymouth will know Andrew “Parky” Parkinson from Parky’s Car Painters on St Aubyn Street. What they may not know is that Parky has recently created a new UV coating system which can be applied to surfaces and fabric as thin as a yacht sail, which can greatly extend the life of that surface and is also amazingly durable.
The product is called Marine Shield, and has already won an ANZ Flying Start Business Plan competition for its innovation. The response to Marine Shield has been amazing.
The product has been applied to the vinyl hull coating of one of the 2013 America’s Cup Syndicate Yachts. Naiad Inflatable NZ now recommends the use of Marine Shield on all search and rescue vessels. The largest super-yacht built in New Zealand used Marine Shield on its sails.
Parky has already exported Marine Shield orders to South Africa, United Kingdom and Spain and is currently looking to create overseas relationships with people who can market and sell Marine Shield with the same passion and belief that Parky has. It is clear that there is nothing else on the worldwide market like Marine Shield. Govett Quilliam is proud to be working with Parky and we are excited about the future prospects of Marine Shield. To date, Govett Quilliam have assisted Parky with a supply agreement for his base ingredients and we are currently helping review export agreements to the United Kingdom and Spain.
