Marine Shield (MS) UV Sail Flex has been tested and proven in the field since before 2011, from the smallest of sails, to the largest superyacht sails in the world, it has many properties that can help sails last longer, and maintain a better condition. This will help save valuable time and money on maintenance and repair.
3 APPLICATION PURPOSES IN 1 KIT!
For branding yacht sails - 1 coat required
(depending upon colour)
For UV protection for Code 0 sails - 2 coats required
For the ultimate UV protection - up to 99% - 3 coats required
Please Note:
UV protection increases with the number of coats applied (maximum 3 coats, to achieve the ultimate combination of flexibility and UV protection).
Marine Shield UV Sail Flex can be used as a 1 coat, 2 coat, or 3 coat system. As indicated above, using 1 coat acts as branding for yacht sails, 2 coats provides effective UV protection for Code 0 sails (as they are not left exposed to the elements for long periods of time). 3 coats provides the ultimate UV protection for those sails that are exposed 365 days per year e.g. from the smallest of yachts, to world cruising superyachts.
Please note: Colours may vary to that shown on your screen
Yes! Providing the existing UV banding strip is in good condition, and the application process is carried out correctly.
1 x 3L kit will cover up to 55sqm, depending on colour choice.
1 x 3L kit will cover up to 35sqm
1 x 3L kit will cover up to 25sqm, depending on the absorbency of the cloth.
To be on the safe side, when ordering, we would recommend using the following formula for the 3 coat UV banding/strip:
1 kit = 22sqm.
See examples below:
Up to 22sqm = 1 kit
22sqm – 44sqm = 2 kits
44sqm – 66sqm = 3 kits
66sqm – 88sqm = 4 kits
And so on…
Part A will last 2 years+, unopened, when stored as per instructions. Part B can last up to 5 years.
As long as the lid is replaced firmly and quickly, straight after use, Part A will last up to 12 weeks, and Part B can last up to 3 years.
Once mixed, it has a relatively short pot life. This will vary, depending upon temperature and humidity, from 30 minutes to 90 minutes. Hotter weather/higher humidity, will cause the paint to go off faster, and cooler weather/lower humidity will cause the paint to go off more slowly.
Therefore we recommend mixing small amounts (1-2 litres at a time). This will help to keep the paint fresh throughout the application process.
Please Note:
See manufacturer safety data sheets for appropriate storage instructions etc.
Marine Shield products are supplied as trade only, and must be applied by a trained applicator and as per application instructions.
